Conservation Area Housing Approved

Plans to demolish derelict outbuildings and create flats behind Ruddington’s old butcher’s shop have been passed by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). As we reported in February, the (then) empty premises and land behind it were bought last year by village entrepreneur Brian Perkins (of ‘Victoria Properties’) who is already the owner/landlord of several of Ruddington’s other shops. His company was responsible for the concept and construction of the adjacent ‘Courtyard’ precinct, off High Street, completed in September 2020. His newly approved redevelopment to the rear of the existing retail unit at 15, Church Street…

Who You Gonna Call? Gum-busters!

If you’ve noticed a hardworking crew in Ruddington village centre, wearing fluorescent orange suits and intriguing backpacks which wouldn’t have looked out of place in a blockbusting 1980s supernatural comedy film, you may have wondered what on earth’s going on?! Well, as Ruddington’s (Ray?) ‘Nosey’ Parker of News, we can reveal the trio are from Rushcliffe Borough Council’s ‘Streetwise’ team!  They’re here at the moment to continue a Rushcliffe-wide initiative tackling chewing gum ‘hot spots’ – blitzing our own village centre pavements last Saturday and again this weekend to finish…

Ruddington Defibrillator Update

In the past few years, as well as inside various village premises and on standby for public events, Ruddington has seen the installation of several, potentially life-saving yellow and green boxes which are available to our community 24 hours a day. There are now seven publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at locations around our village, as indicated below on the updated map originally drawn up Barbara Breakwell and James Norton. In the case of a cardiac emergency, where someone’s heart stops beating, or begins beating erratically, these can be used by people…

New Hedgehog Highways Opened!

Unlike for Ruddington’s road traffic at the moment, progress for one of our nocturnal creatures has just been made a little easier thanks to some generous, nature-loving volunteers from a nearby village. It’s after RUDDINGTON.info teamed up with Wild Things Keyworth this summer to ‘Help Our Hedgehogs’  by creating a hedgehog gap in a deserving Ruddington garden – which would be fitted with an especially carved and decorated ‘Ruddington Hedgehog Highway’ surround, too. In the end, the group’s founder, Jennifer Manning-Ohren, agreed with carpenter Simon Dunstan, artist Liz Waddell and chief gap-driller Nick Ellerby they’d…

Further Disruptive Ruddington Roadworks Announced

The patience of Ruddington’s long-suffering motorists is to be tested yet again between now and next Easter with a raft of different highway works taking place in our village.
