Another Residents’ Parking Scheme Proposed

Following further complaints from villagers about not being able to park near their homes, a consultation is underway about creating additional ‘residents only’ parking areas near Ruddington village centre. Via East Midlands, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council Highways, says it sent out letters and questionnaires to residents in 33 properties over the summer asking if they would like residents parking restrictions along part of Easthorpe Street. A popular and historic Ruddington public house has submitted proposals which would see its accommodation more than double in size if approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). Pay Parking Plans Rejected

Ruddington Parish Councillors have again said “no” to imposing a time restriction or long stay parking charges in their Church Street Car Park. As we reported earlier this week, following an approach from Ruddington Co-op, the idea was revisited at last night’s full Parish Council Meeting (October 12th). Just as everything seemed to be moving forward very nicely at Ruddington’s transport heritage centre, it’s emerged that the two groups responsible for running the site – and the services from it – are at loggerheads over a section of track. In August last year, RUDDINGTON.info reported on a village-led campaign to “Stop the Incinerator” which was being proposed for the site of the soon-to-be decommissioned Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station. It followed an application submitted to Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) in July 2020 by Uniper UK Limited for the development of ‘The East Midlands Energy Re-Generation’ (EMERGE) Centre – which it described as a ‘multifuel energy recovery facility – to recover energy from waste material’.
