Now it seems there’s another burning issue getting people hot under the collar in Ruddington. It’s after an application was submitted to Nottinghamshire County Council last month to turn the soon-to-be-decommissioned Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station into a waste incineration plant. Ruddington Recyclers Beware

Villagers who use Ruddington’s closest household waste recycling centre in West Bridgford are being warned that, from the start of next month, we won’t be able just to turn up there! That’s because Nottinghamshire County Council is introducing a new, trial, online booking system for residents needing to visit the Rugby Road facility, which will begin on September 1st 2020. Will Tips Reopening Reduce This Fly-Tipping Menace?

It’s hoped eyesore scenes like these over the weekend in Ruddington will become less frequent once all Nottinghamshire County Council recycling centres reopen for residents – then businesses – over the next eight days. This latest fly-tip (top) of a mattress and other household waste was captured on camera by local photographer Paul Witney along Asher Lane. Rubbish including a child’s buggy and artificial Christmas tree was also dumped illegally on a verge alongside Wilford Road, obstructing the footpath (right).
