Visitors to Ruddington’s top tourist attraction may have noticed a time-honoured hedge laying technique to help manage its hedgerows sustainably, which aims to provide a valuable habitat and food source for wildlife. After successfully trialling the idea a couple of months’ ago, organisers of a new initiative in Ruddington for people living with memory loss (and their carers) is set to be held here every two months. This month sees the start of a brand new initiative in Ruddington for people living with memory loss and their carers. The ‘Green Memory Café’ is being launched at Rushcliffe Country Park on the afternoon of Wednesday 21st June in the newly refurbished Visitor Centre by the lake. Park Play Area Reopens for Easter

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park have confirmed that vital maintenance work at their large children’s play area has been completed on schedule. That means the popular Ruddington children’s facility is now back open for villagers and visitors alike, in time for Easter, having been shut for an overhaul and safety checks during March. Tree-mendous Job, Ruddington!

TODAY (Friday 31st March 2023) was the extended deadline by which tree planting must be registered to be included in ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ (QGC) as a legacy to Her Majesty. Ruddington has seen numerous local companies, groups and individuals get involved with this national initiative. The latest to be revealed is at our Country Park, where The Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park planted 10 mature trees, including Hornbeam, Silver Birch and Crab Apple to replace trees affected by ‘Ash Dieback’ (top photo). Animal Craftwork Sale

Support the festive fundraising sale in the Meeting Room of the Visitor Centre at Rushcliffe Country Park on Wednesday 7th December from 10am to 3pm. The event is by registered charity Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park (FoRCP). Resident volunteer carpenter Roger Byrne is holding an ‘Animal Craftwork Sale’ of carved items he’s made using his bandsaw – also his creative skill. Family and friends come to this free event to count the number of wildlife species living in our Country Park. On Sunday 3rd July, BioBlitz continues, between 10am and 5pm.
