Scouts’ Successful Festive Fundraiser

One of the many attractions at Ruddington’s three day Village Christmas Market this year was a pop-up stall on the Saturday which was run by 1st Ruddington Scouts. Keen to raise funds themselves for their many activities, in the months before the event many Beavers, Scouts and Cubs had spent time making glass decorations and other items to sell on the day – some of which are pictured below. Not only that, their stall featured two tombolas; with chocolates and gifts kindly donated by local families and small businesses. Chair of…

Three Month Road Closure Announced

It seems 2024 is set to be just as difficult as 2023 has been for motorists trying to get into, out of, or through our busy village in a timely fashion; with a much used access road being SHUT for almost three months. Ever since long-overdue junction layout improvements and new utility installations at Ruddington’s Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads finally began in July, their 4-way temporary signals have continued to cause frustration. Frequent peak-time hold-ups for motorists and disrupted bus services even prompted an apology from Nottinghamshire Counry Council (NCC). This ‘first’ phase…

Further Ruddington Bus Cuts Revealed

With Ruddington’s population continuing to grow substantially, largely as a result of significant recent housebuilding on our former Green Belt, you might think there’d actually be the demand for more bus services to and from our busy village? Yet the cutbacks to NCT’s Navy 3 timetable, and the axing of CT4N’s number 22 and 23 services, tell a different story – one where increasing numbers of residents and village workers are choosing to hop into their cars and drive instead – or even to book a taxi – rather than take…

‘Shade Sails’ in the Park

Regular visitors to Rushcliffe Country Park here in Ruddington may already have noticed two rather ‘striking’ new additions between the children’s play area and outdoor gym/new skatepark. Officially called ‘Shade Sails’ (pictured top), they have been erected among the picnic benches to provide welcome shelter from the sun during the summer months, and protection from rain during the wet, winter months. They were funded by a visitor who made a generous donation in her will to a favourite park she had visited many times over the years. It’s possible the new structures rather…

New Emergency Work on Dutton’s Hill

Following a number of gas leaks in recent years, RUDDINGTON.info has previously warned that Cadent Gas will need to carry out substantial maintenance on Wilford Road to replace the troublesome old iron gas main under ‘Dutton’s Hill’ (pictured top) with a “more durable” plastic pipe as soon as possible. Please read the important update below!* This was due to have happened between 16th October and 13th November 2023, however would have been going on at the same time as junction layout improvements at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads, which are already causing major peak-time hold-ups for…
