Further Ruddington Bus Cuts Revealed

With Ruddington’s population continuing to grow substantially, largely as a result of significant recent housebuilding on our former Green Belt, you might think there’d actually be the demand for more bus services to and from our busy village? Yet the cutbacks to NCT’s Navy 3 timetable, and the axing of CT4N’s number 22 and 23 services, tell a different story – one where increasing numbers of residents and village workers are choosing to hop into their cars and drive instead – or even to book a taxi – rather than take…

Bus Fares Rise – But Price Cap Extended

Ruddington’s main bus operator – which runs the Navy 3 and Green 10 services, in our village – has announced that new fares will be introduced on its services from Sunday 28th May 2023. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is blaming the latest rises on significant increases in its costs – which the company says resulted in an operational loss during the last financial year. From the end of this month, NCT’s average bus fare will go up by 9.6% – slightly below the current UK inflation rate of 10.1%. However, the operator’s…

Ruddington Bus Fares CUT by 20%

Ruddington’s main transport operator has announced the welcome news that the New Year will begin with significantly cheaper travel aboard our village buses. Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Navy 3 and Green 10 bus passengers will benefit from a 20% cut in its single fares throughout January, February and March 2023 thanks to the government funded ‘Help for Households’ initiative. The standard adult single from Ruddington to Nottingham (and vice versa) will be reduced from £2.50 to £2.00. Customers who usually buy a £4.70 all-day ticket for a return journey will be able to pay just…

Ruddington Bus Services Axed

Two circular bus routes through our village, which provide Ruddington’s only direct connection with Morrisons at Gamston, Wheatcroft Garden Centre, the Central Avenue Shops in West Bridgford and NTU’s Clifton campus, are being withdrawn permanently next month. CT4N’s Services 22 and 23 have been under threat before, because of Nottingham City Council (NCC) spending cuts three and a half years’ ago, when they were still free buses run by ‘Nottingham Community Transport’. On that occasion CT4N stepped in to operate them on a commercial basis with fares payable, and buses then continuing daytime…

Ruddington Bus Fares Rising this Weekend

Our main village bus operator has announced today that it’s putting up all fares from this Sunday in response to what it calls “significantly increased operating costs”. Nottingham City Transport (NCT), which runs our Navy 3 and Green 10 services, is blaming fuel and staffing costs being much higher than at the start of the year. It says diesel is costing them up to 50% more with the ‘BioGas’ price almost doubled. NCT explains that its drivers’ salaries have also increased by between 8.5% and 9.5% this year, in response to the national…

Rise in Ruddington Bus Fares

Village transport operators have revealed a Hallowe’en scare for passengers – fare increases for most of their tickets from this Sunday, October 31st. Ruddington bus users will find the cost of their journeys increasing on Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Navy 3 and Green 10/ 10C/10X routes and on CT4N Services 22 & 23. Both operators say the fare rises are necessary to balance the books against increased operating costs and reduced government COVID funding for the bus industry. For NCT, the fares which change from Sunday 31st October 2021 are: Adults: Now From…

Praise for The ‘Walking Bus’

It seems the Ruddington Walking Bus – which launched as a permanent, daily service between Ruddington’s two schools last September – is proving a big hit with parents, pupils and staff. After over a year of planning, and a successful trial in June last year, the Walking Bus between James Peacock Infant and Nursery School in Manor Park and St Peter’s C of E Junior School on Ashworth Avenue now takes children, chaperoned by adults, on a daily walk to their school along a set route – in much the same…

‘Ruddington Walking Bus’ Trial This Week

Last summer we revealed that a ‘Walking Bus’ was being proposed for Ruddington. After a survey was carried out, and followed up with two information evenings, it was decided there was enough interest and support to test out the idea in our village. After much planning, the first trial is this week! A ‘Walking Bus’ is a fun, healthy, safe and environmentally friendly way for children to get to and from school. It enables kids chaperoned by adults to walk to their school along a set route – in much the same way a school…

Flawforth Lane Closed After Diesel Spill

Motorists are unable to use Flawforth Lane in and out of Ruddington today following an incident just after midnight at the A52/A606 Wheatcroft Roundabout. Highways England said it was “due to an extensive diesel spillage. The A52 will need partly resurfacing.” The A52 was closed westbound between the A606 and the A60 for several hours overnight, but the agency reported it was partly reopened just before the morning rush hour today: “Lane 2 of two lanes is now flowing past the spillage and therefore the A52 is partly open.” However…
