Petition For Safe Crossing Reaches 1.5K Signatures

A road safety campaign for a better crossing point for walkers, cyclists and horse riders on a busy dual carriageway between Ruddington and West Bridgford is attracting widespread support. Paul Fenton’s online petition highlighting how dangerous it has become to cross the A52 trunk road between the Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft roundabouts has so far attracted over 1,500 signatures. His focus is on the existing underpass opposite Wayte Court (pictured above and below) which many walkers from our village already use to get to Sharp Hill Wood and Nature Reserve. “That…

The Bottle Top’s Getting Bigger

Number 2 High Street has been at the heart of Ruddington since way back. When Glyn Thomas’s Greengrocers closed its doors in 2018, it sent a shockwave through the village and has been very much missed ever since. Having now been in residence there for almost two years, Alex and Anthony Preston, the owners of The Bottle Top, have some exciting news they hope you will love, and which will bring back the ‘essence’ of Number 2. The team at the new business have worked hard to bring something different…

School Cycling Route Plans in Jeopardy

Campaigners fear their hopes for a designated cycleway from Ruddington to Rushcliffe School may have been dashed by the failure of the County Council to secure over £300,000 of cash earmarked for such schemes. Pedals Nottingham Cycle Campaign says it’s dismayed that Nottinghamshire County Council achieved just 46% of its potential funding from The Government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund – designed to improve cycling and pedestrian provision for residents to have a safe alternative to public transport in light of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. The authority won just £263,250 out of the potential…
