Buying From Your Butcher is Best!

If you asked the average shopper what types of retailer were essential for a vibrant high street, it’s a fair bet a butchers would be among them. Ruddington Village Butchers‘ Shane Ginty helped to bring T W Oliver’s historic Church Street premises back to life in March 2011, after our village’s last remaining butcher’s shop had lain empty for the previous seven months. He subsequently bought the business from original owner Stewart White and has now been running it, with a little help from his wife Nicola, for over four years.…

The Bottle Top – Eco Shop!

Even though it only opened on May 10th this year, there’s no doubt that Ruddington’s The Bottle Top on High Street has already become an integral part of village life for many residents – especially craft beer fans and more environmentally conscious customers. Located in the premises previously occupied by the legendary Thomas’s Greengrocers, husband and wife team Anthony and Alex Preston (pictured above) certainly had some big shoes to fill at 2, High Street. However, it quickly became clear that their new business would be much more than just a ‘posh’ off-licence. They promised to…

A highly regarded Ruddington kitchen design studio is celebrating its tenth birthday! Kitchens by Mascari arrived on Charles Street in our village in 2009 – with a mission to deliver great design and excellence in project management and installation. Ten years on, RUDDINGTON.info speaks to its Managing Director, Rob Mascari, to find out more about the business, then and now:- You’re celebrating ten years of ‘Kitchens by Mascari’ in our village this year. The Next Episode Begins…

Ruddington can once again boast a trendy drinking venue – now a new bar called The Next Episode has opened its doors in our village. But it’s rather MORE than a bar, since it’s been launched by The Ruddy Good Pub Company – alias Mark and Sarah Anderson from The Ruddington Arms. This is now the third outlet in their expanding hospitality empire – after they relaunched The White Lion at Bingham in 2017. After a “soft” launch with some invited guests the previous night, The Next Episode opened to everyone…

Experience Mindfulness in Ruddington

You’ve no doubt heard about ‘mindfulness’ but how about trying the experience? Well you have the chance, as local mindfulness teacher Jakki Pritchard is running another FREE ‘taster session’ in Ruddington at The Framework Knitters’ Museum. This will be followed by an eight week course in the village. Jakki told RUDDINGTON.info “The 8-week MBCT (mindfulness based cognitive therapy) course offers us a way to unhook from the grip of stress or anxiety, a different way to be with our experience. Mindfulness skills help us to cope with the stresses and mood shifts…

The Old Bakehouse Celebrates Seven Years

The Old Bakehouse Tearoom sits so comfortably on Church Street, and is now such an integral part of Ruddington life, to current residents and visitors it’s like it’s always been here! In reality, of course, the premises have undergone a couple of reincarnations since they were the former Horspools’ Bakery shop. However, Lesley Wells has made it all her own – and it’s seven years this week since she first started trading from there. It was early in 2012 that Lesley’s long time dream of running a traditional, Victorian-style tea room…

Ruddington’s Own ‘Fame’ School

The rather understated purple doorway leading into Number 7, Charles Street, may not seem quite as salubrious as the famous ‘High School of Performing Arts’ in New York City did back in the ’80s. But Ruddington’s ‘Freedom Dance & Performance’ has always aimed big – and consequently has found perhaps rather more than its fair share of ‘Fame’ along the way!? Principal Stacey Green is a fully qualified I.S.T.D teacher with years of experience both as a performer and choreographer. She launched ‘Freedom’ in our village in 2002 with the motto “Training tomorrow’s stars…
