Dismay Over Lost Ruddington Trees

The felling of two large trees – which had been part an attractive, green canopy above Manor Park for many generations – has caused shock and sadness among villagers. Emma Revill, who kindly supplied RUDDINGTON.info with the photos (above and below), contacted us in dismay last Thursday (August 19th) when she saw that two of the tall, Beech trees by the roadside in front of James Peacock School had been chopped down. She called it “tragic” – and was very keen to find out the reason why. With the ‘climate emergency’…

Man in Critical Condition Following Ruddington Fight

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with serious injuries – which officers believe were caused by a punch to the head. The road was closed for a time, following the incident, to facilitate forensic investigations. Rumours spread quickly around the scene that a knife had been used in the attack, but police think it was a serious blow on the head which caused his injuries. Gareth…

This useful recycling bin (pictured above) is brand new to the Church Street food store this month. Gwen Eyre, Co-op member pioneer for Ruddington and Clifton, says: “We’re delighted to be able to offer this facility in Ruddington. Our bin is situated…

Criminals Target Development Sites

It seems the various building sites around Ruddington at the moment are presenting new opportunities for criminals. The latest village crime statistics just released by Rushcliffe Police show that, last month, Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development was targeted again by thieves – who this time managed to get away with thousands of pounds worth of scaffolding from its construction site. This follows previous thefts of building items from its Flawforth Lane site the previous month – plus a diesel road roller from the Avant Homes development on Asher Lane and…

New Community Centre Designs Unveiled

It’s being reported there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response so far to plans by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) for its proposed community facilities behind The Green. Its decision to demolish the existing building and build a brand new community centre for our village followed an online survey the Council carried out late last year.  Nevertheless, RPC had hoped that the present premises (opened only in 1983) might be brought back into use temporarily whilst funding was sought for the new building. Unfortunately, it reports this has not proved to be a viable option. This is…
