Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with serious injuries – which officers believe were caused by a punch to the head. The 28-year-old was knocked unconscious following reports of a fight on Easthorpe Street just after 9.30pm last night (Saturday August 21). The road was closed for a time, following the incident, to facilitate forensic investigations. A woman had to be attended by ambulance staff following a blaze at her home in Ruddington this afternoon. Crews from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the property on Leys Road at just before 3pm after a fire was reported in one of the flats. Appliances from West Bridgford, Highfields and London Road rushed to the scene. Police Incident on Easthorpe Street

There have been some dramatic scenes in our village this evening (Thursday 12th November) after a van ended up on the pavement lodged between parked cars and the wall of a terraced cottage on one of Ruddington’s oldest roads. Television viewing and internet browsing were brought to an abrupt halt in one area of Ruddington last night as around 124 homes lost power. Tuesday evening’s outage affected residents of Elms Park and Sheepfold Lane. One householder reported flames shooting from a manhole on the roadside – before emergency services and an electricity van arrived at the scene. Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said that it involved just one vehicle in collision with a tree. The relative peace and quiet of a Sunday evening in Ruddington has been shattered by the arrival of fire crews to tackle a blaze at our village centre bookmakers. High Street was cordoned off for over an hour when two fire engines arrived to deal with the incident soon after seven o’clock at the Coral betting shop.
