Television viewing and internet browsing were brought to an abrupt halt in one area of Ruddington last night as around 124 homes lost power. Tuesday evening’s outage affected residents of Elms Park and Sheepfold Lane. One householder reported flames shooting from a manhole on the roadside – before emergency services and an electricity van arrived at the scene. Boxing Day Crash in Ruddington

Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said that it involved just one vehicle in collision with a tree. The relative peace and quiet of a Sunday evening in Ruddington has been shattered by the arrival of fire crews to tackle a blaze at our village centre bookmakers. High Street was cordoned off for over an hour when two fire engines arrived to deal with the incident soon after seven o’clock at the Coral betting shop.
