During the summer we reported on an unpopular decision by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) to remove the netting from one of the goalposts in Sellors’ Recreation Ground to discourage people from using it. Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has revealed volunteers from Ruddington are up for gongs in two different categories during next month’s ‘Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards’ alongside a singer and keyboard player who runs frequent health and wellbeing music sessions here and a young, Ruddington sportswoman. The annual ceremony celebrates the best of the Borough’s health & wellbeing and food & drink sectors, volunteers, environmentalists, clubs and organisations alongside other local businesses and enterprises. Painting Pictures in Our Park

The Visitor Centre at Rushcliffe Country Park was the venue for another recent gathering on Rushcliffe Social Prescribing team’s ‘Friendship Calendar’ – aimed at engaging with local people to tackle social isolation. Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s ‘Reach Rushcliffe’ initiative funded this free session in Ruddington last month, which was attended by over a dozen people. They learnt tips on how to paint using watercolours whilst meeting like-minded people and, hopefully, making some lasting friendships. Double Car Theft Arrest in Ruddington

Nottinghamshire Police have revealed two suspects were arrested in our village within the space of a few minutes this week thanks to a new crackdown on car thefts. Operational Support and Response officers have stepped up targeted patrols around the Edwalton area, following a recent rise in vehicle theft reports there, and were carrying out one such patrol when a car was taken from a local driveway. Latest Co-op ‘Good Causes’ Announced

The beneficiaries of this year’s ‘Local Community Fund’ courtesy of shoppers at the Ruddington Co-op have just been revealed. This time only two organisations have been selected specifically, rather than the previous three. There’s been welcome relief for long-suffering Ruddington drivers and bus passengers this week after the imposition of temporary traffic lights at a notorious traffic bottleneck was postponed. Man Charged With Arson Following Ruddington Fire

A man has been charged in connection with last week’s flat fire in Ruddington. Emergency services were called to Dunblane Road at 9.35pm on Thursday 12th October after concerns were raised for a man’s safety. Officers arrived and evacuated a number of residents after flames were seen coming from a first-floor flat. No-one was injured and the blaze was put out by firefighters. Man Arrested After Suspected Arson Attack

A man has been taken into police custody following a fire at a Ruddington property which they suspect was started deliberately. The blaze happened on Thursday night (12th October) when emergency services were called out to a house on Dunblane Road at about 9.35pm over concerns for a man’s safety.
