Latest Co-op ‘Good Causes’ Announced

The beneficiaries of this year’s ‘Local Community Fund’ courtesy of shoppers at the Ruddington Co-op have just been revealed. This time only two organisations have been selected specifically, rather than the previous three. Both are based in Clifton but one also serves our own community, thanks to village volunteers from Ruddington. They are Dovecote Parents and Staff Association and Hope Church (NG11 FoodBank) which will share cash from the new round of funding – running from 21st October 2023 for the next 12 months. Member Pioneer for Ruddington and Clifton, Gwen Eyre, explains: “The Ruddington…

Further Navy 3 Timetable Changes

Just four months’ ago the axing of CT4N’s number 22 and 23 Ruddington services had the knock-on effect of Nottingham City Transport (NCT) re-routing some of its daytime Navy 3 buses away from our village. This was to maintain an hourly direct bus link from 8.30am to 3.30pm to the City Centre, Trent Bridge and Clifton Centre for the residents of Wilford Village and Silverdale (as service Navy 3A). It also meant that, between approximately 9.30am and 3.30pm on Mondays to Saturdays, Navy 3 buses began operating via Ruddington to Clifton only once an…

Goodbye Ruddington Vets

After 28 years serving Ruddington’s pet owners, it’s been revealed that our much loved veterinary practice is leaving the village. The news was first announced on Ruddington Vets Facebook page last week, in a post which read: “Check out our spacious new site!”. It went on to explain that: “This Autumn, we will be growing our practice.”  To achieve this, they will be moving it around two miles away – to new premises over in Clifton. They do not plan to retain any veterinary facilities at the Shaw Street site in Ruddington (pictured…

Christmas Kindness Continues

An old age pensioner in Ruddington is among those thanking a big hearted but anonymous donor after yet more ‘random acts of kindness’ this Christmas. For the fourth year in a row in our village, envelopes each stuffed with £100 in £20 notes landed on a handful of residents’ doormats on December 24th, marked simply with the words ‘Random Act of Kindness’.  Maggie Hutchinson was delighted when one arrived for her dad John (pictured above). She told RUDDINGTON.info: “My 84 year old father, who lives in Ruddington, received an RAK on…

WALK #3 – Ruddington to Clifton’s Greatest Hits

The third walk in this series takes us from Ruddington towards its nearest neighbour.  Clifton has its roots as a village, existing now within the Nottingham City boundary but growing up initially around Clifton Hall, an ancient family seat.  It was much enlarged by the building of a large council estate in the 1950s and is now a vibrant suburban community, enhanced by its new tram route and, arguably, the dualling of the A453 which reduced its seemingly permanent congestion during rush hour. This walk takes in some of the…

More Christmas Kindness in Ruddington?

For the third year running, householders in our area are reporting envelopes filled with cash being pushed through their letterboxes over the festive period! Once again the envelopes, each containing five £20 notes, have been delivered anonymously – marked only with the words “R. A. K. Random Act of Kindness”. Among the recipients this time was Jessica Mitchell who got in touch with RUDDINGTON.info to tell us: “I was one of the receivers of a RAK of £100! I can’t explain how happy I am that people could be so…
