Christmas Kindness Continues

An old age pensioner in Ruddington is among those thanking a big hearted but anonymous donor after yet more ‘random acts of kindness’ this Christmas.

For the fourth year in a row in our village, envelopes each stuffed with £100 in £20 notes landed on a handful of residents’ doormats on December 24th, marked simply with the words ‘Random Act of Kindness’.  Maggie Hutchinson was delighted when one arrived for her dad John (pictured above).

She told RUDDINGTON.info: “My 84 year old father, who lives in Ruddington, received an RAK on Christmas Eve this year. On behalf of my lovely dad and the rest of my family I would like to say thank you very much for the generous RAK gift”.

The identity of the philanthropic benefactor(s) is a closely guarded secret, known to only a few, but previously similar gifts of cash have also been posted through letterboxes at addresses in Clifton and Silverdale. Clifton, where these envelopes have been delivered for five years now, has reportedly received more of the same this year. Last Christmas a total of £1000 was gifted in this way – but the number of RAK envelopes delivered this year has not been revealed so far.

Maggie added: “My dad was very poorly in 2019 and ended up in hospital. We thought we were going to loose him but he pulled through. He is the kindest, most generous man to his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I am overwhelmed he was one of the receivers this year. Thank you!”

It’s known several of these were secretly posted again this Christmas

If you are another Ruddington recipient of one of these RAK envelopes this year – or you know of someone in our village who was – please tell let us know soonest – either via our contact page or Facebook messenger. We’d love to hear from you and add you in to this ‘good news’ story for Christmas.
