132 Per Cent Rise in Antisocial Behaviour in Ruddington?

New statistics just published by Nottinghamshire Police indicate the number of reported incidents of ‘antisocial behaviour’ in our village shot up by 132 per cent during the Coronavirus pandemic. Figures from the past twelve months of COVID-19 restrictions and ‘lockdowns’ show Ruddington’s increase was second only to the Ashfield District of Nottinghamshire – leading to alarmist stories in some local news media. However, thankfully for us, it seems this does not give an accurate picture. In fact, for the whole year, the number of reported cases rose from just 83…

A road safety campaign for a better crossing point for walkers, cyclists and horse riders on a busy dual carriageway between Ruddington and West Bridgford is attracting widespread support. Paul Fenton’s online petition highlighting how dangerous it has become to cross the A52 trunk road between the Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft roundabouts has so far attracted over 1,500 signatures. His focus is on the existing underpass opposite Wayte Court (pictured above and below) which many walkers from our village already use to get to Sharp Hill Wood and Nature Reserve. “That…

Okay. So we’re talking about the 12th of April rather than the 12th of August. Moreover, this month no grouse (grouses? grice? – Ed) will be put in peril. Clifton Road to Close Yet Again!

After having already been closed to through-traffic three times this year for roadworks, one of the main access routes in and out of Ruddington will be shut yet again this weekend. Thankfully it’s just for a few hours, therefore it’s less likely to cause disruption for drivers than previous closures – such as the repair and resurfacing work on Clifton Road between Camelot Street and Old Station Drive which took place in January following a burst water main. The latest closure is said to be necessary to complete work started by the same contractors in March to deal…
