Reported Crime Continues to Rise

The latest figures from Rushcliffe Police show there was another increase in incidents recorded by officers in Ruddington last month. Perhaps the most concerning involves a 12 year old child reportedly being bitten by “a large grey dog” on Vicarage Park – with police still trying to trace this potentially dangerous animal and its owner. Historically our former Sainsbury’s store on Dutton’s Hill was targeted frequently by shoplifters…

Crime in Ruddington is the focus of a short new survey which is dropping through residents’ letterboxes this week. It’s been produced on behalf of Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards following a spike of crime here over the summer months. It was particularly the increase in house burglaries which prompted a number of her constituents to write, expressing their concerns. 132 Per Cent Rise in Antisocial Behaviour in Ruddington?

New statistics just published by Nottinghamshire Police indicate the number of reported incidents of ‘antisocial behaviour’ in our village shot up by 132 per cent during the Coronavirus pandemic. Figures from the past twelve months of COVID-19 restrictions and ‘lockdowns’ show Ruddington’s increase was second only to the Ashfield District of Nottinghamshire – leading to alarmist stories in some local news media. However, thankfully for us, it seems this does not give an accurate picture. In fact, for the whole year, the number of reported cases rose from just 83…

Most villagers and visitors seemed to be adhering to the required ‘social distancing’ guidelines. Julie Smith of the Black Cat Café tells us:…

Bumper Month of Crime

Statistics released by Rushcliffe Police show what most villagers had already realised – February 2019 in Ruddington was a particularly bad month for crime – despite it being a short one! Police Community Support Officer Kathy Lucock, who compiled the worrying figures, admitted it was a very busy period for them – particularly early on, due to continuing vehicle crime. Previously, RUDDINGTON.info has shared residents’ CCTV images of the person believed to have been Ruddington’s one man crimewave! But PCSO Lucock said: “The good news is that the male believed to…
