Major Ruddington roadworks which have already been causing peak time headaches for motorists for months are being extended by at least another three weeks. The work on Loughborough Road at the Mere Way roundabout to create a suitable access for the new William Davis Homes development on former Green Belt farmland began in September 2020. Former Youth Centre to Be Demolished and Replaced

The new owners of the former Youth & Community Centre on The Green – which has lain empty and disused for over four years – have revealed how they plan to bulldoze it and erect more modern facilities in its place. As we’ve previously reported, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) bought the building from Nottinghamshire County Council in 2019. Their planned public consultation on its future was delayed by the Coronavirus outbreak. New statistics just published by Nottinghamshire Police indicate the number of reported incidents of ‘antisocial behaviour’ in our village shot up by 132 per cent during the Coronavirus pandemic. Figures from the past twelve months of COVID-19 restrictions and ‘lockdowns’ show Ruddington’s increase was second only to the Ashfield District of Nottinghamshire – leading to alarmist stories in some local news media.
