Motorists in Ruddington are being asked to watch out for suspicious behaviour around their parked cars and vans after criminals struck in our village again this week. Rushcliffe Police reveal: “Patrols have been increased in the area of Ruddington following several thefts from motor vehicles and two thefts of vehicles over the Bank Holiday Weekend.” It seems many of these incidents were on our Pasture Lane estate. Rushcliffe Police have just released their Ruddington crime statistics for last month. The figures show that only eight incidents were reported to them from our village via 101 and online from 1st March to 31st March 2022. Two of our new housing developments were targeted again, in addition to thefts from unattended vehicles, a business burglary and drivers failing to pay for their fuel at Ruddington’s filling station. Ruddington residents and village Councillors are expressing dismay that one of the key planning conditions for the approval of 175 houses down Asher Lane has now been abandoned by Rushcliffe Borough Council without a clear alternative. It seems the various building sites around Ruddington at the moment are presenting new opportunities for criminals. The latest village crime statistics just released by Rushcliffe Police show that, last month, Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development was targeted again by thieves – who this time managed to get away with thousands of pounds worth of scaffolding from its construction site.
