Thousands Raised During ‘Open Gardens’ Event

Organisers of last weekend’s ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ have revealed it was another great success – securing well over £6,000 to split between their two chosen kids’ charities. Roadworks Will Continue Until November!

The major work to reshape Ruddington’s busiest crossroads is set to cause significant disruption again from this Friday (7th June 2024) when four-way temporary traffic signals will be back in use at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane junction. Now we’re being told these will be needed until Friday 8th November! Ruddington’s D-Day Beacon

This week, celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day are taking place nationwide and in other countries which were British allies during the Second World War. This Thursday evening, 6th June 2024, our village will also be joining in.  Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) is inviting all residents along to the War Memorial on Church Street for 8.50pm as the countdown to the synchronised national beacon lighting gets underway. Ruddington Community Choir will be on hand with some appropriate songs as the sun sets and dusk prevails. Country Park Play Area Refurbishment Almost Complete

Despite delays caused by the inclement spring weather, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) says its major refurbishment works in the play area at Ruddington’s country park are now almost finished. This latest £175,000 of investment by RBC at Rushcliffe Country Park includes adding a new ‘Kanope Tower’ multi-play unit {pictured top} featuring 14 different play elements and a new wooden trail. Unpopular proposals to create a new children’s nursery on Brookside Road in Ruddington have been given the go-ahead by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). This is despite 17 objections (out of 18 comments) by consultees and members of the public to the original application for a ‘registered nursery’ {23/02205/FUL} followed by a further eleven objections to the application {23/02202/VAR} to allow extra onsite parking (for up to 14 cars) and longer weekday opening hours for the new business. Staff, children and parents say they’re delighted that a Ruddington school judged to ‘Require Improvement’ two years’ ago has now been rated ‘Good’ in all areas. Disruptive Junction Work Restarts

After originally being rescheduled to resume on May 7th, and then being postponed until May 28th, the major work to reshape Ruddington’s busiest crossroads is now set to begin again this Monday, 20th May.
