The felling of two large trees – which had been part an attractive, green canopy above Manor Park for many generations – has caused shock and sadness among villagers. Hundreds Attend Skate Park’s Official Opening

This weekend’s official opening of Ruddington’s new skate park has been hailed a great success by organisers – after people of all ages and abilities flocked to the special sessions arranged for its launch at Rushcliffe Country Park yesterday (Saturday 14th August). Although the £210,000 state-of-the-art facility actually opened in June, it was decided to wait until all COVID-19 restrictions had been lifted to put on this more formal event. Wilford Road Closing for a Week

Drivers are being reminded that Wilford Road in Ruddington is to be shut for a whole week this August as highway contractors finish constructing the new junction into the Bloor Homes ‘Fairham Green’ development. The current temporary traffic lights will be swapped for a total road closure from Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th August inclusive whilst these roadworks are carried out, meaning (except in an emergency) no vehicular traffic will be allowed through. Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. Green Grant for Ruddington Firm

A village-based business has secured £300,000 to completely replace its existing heating system – which should reduce its carbon emissions in Ruddington by around 150 tonnes a year. Artex Limited will use the funds to install a much greener ‘biomass’ heating system at its Pasture Lane site. Parent company Saint-Gobain has awarded the money as part of its ‘INVEST Carbon’ fund – to support the decarbonisation of its businesses on a journey to net zero carbon by 2050. Ruddington Trio’s Fundraising Fortnight

This weekend, three employees from a Ruddington firm are beginning the challenge of walking the Pennine Way in just 14 days – in aid of a local children’s hospice. The trio, who all work at Quotient Sciences on Mere Way, are taking on the 268 mile trek to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough.
