Get Ready for ‘The Big Sing’

It’s been rather a long wait, partly due to COVID-19 restrictions, but Ruddington’s much loved singing festival is finally back this month. As before, the aim is to enjoy singing together, and anyone can take part, whether you can sing or not! ‘The Big Sing 2023’ is run by Ruddington Community Choir, who hope it will be a welcome boost to our village economy, too.  Organisers estimate over 160 people will gather between 9am and 6pm on Saturday 20th May, with the event starting and ending at St Peter’s Church. Participants will…

Help Our Hedgehogs!

Ruddington wildlife lovers are being encouraged to take action to protect the red listed mammals – with ‘The State of Britain’s Hedgehogs 2022’ report suggesting numbers have declined by 75% in some parts of our country since the year 2000. The increased use of fencing between houses, rather than hedges, has been partly blamed. Besides established hedgerows providing a ‘home’ for the spiky creatures, hedgehogs can also travel up to a mile each night through people’s gardens if the activity of humans still makes this possible. They need around a dozen gardens…

Ruddington’s First Rapid Chargers

It’s been rather a long time coming, but our village is now offering rapid charging provision for use by the ever-increasing number of residents and visitors with electric vehicles (EVs). Two EV charging points have just been installed at the entrance to Rushcliffe Country Park, operating on the national BP Pulse network. This compares with several hours to achieve the same…
