Community Choir Celebrates Ten Years

It may seem like only yesterday that @RUDDINGTON_info Tweeted out an invitation to join a brand new village choir – but it was actually way back in February 2012!  This month is the tenth anniversary of Ruddington Community Choir‘s very first workshop. The lovely, musical milestone was celebrated by its current members this week during their usual Tuesday evening rehearsal at Ruddington Methodist Church. Half an hour of singing their current songs was followed by reminiscing, cutting a specially made cake and plenty of tea and coffee. Then they finished up by singing…

The Show Must Go On!

The ‘purple door to fame’ at Freedom Dance & Performance at 7, Charles Street has sadly seen very little movement over these past few months – after all the school’s usual classes were suspended until further notice due to the Coronavirus pandemic. However, since March 19th, its Principal Stacey Green and her 150 pupils – with ages ranging from 2 to 18 – have been in no mood for sitting around idly during the ‘lockdown’. From the safety of their homes in Ruddington (and, in some cases, much further afield) they began to…

‘Building Bridges’ in Ruddington

A new initiative which aims to unite our village’s elderly residents and pre-school children, so they can enjoy fun activities together, is continuing this week at Ruddington Methodist Church. It’s called ‘Building Bridges’ and was inspired by a Channel 4 TV documentary called ‘The Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds’ first screened in 2017 which showed the benefits of older people and toddlers working together. Youth & Family Worker at The Methodist Church, Andy Proffitt, told RUDDINGTON.info: “As a church we were aware that we were mainly working with these…

More Big Sing Success!

Our village came alive today – with the sound of singing seemingly to be heard from every direction. It was nothing to do with The Eurovision Song Contest, but rather the 2018 Ruddington “Big Sing” – which organisers have hailed a great success! Hosted by Ruddington Community Choir, it is a festival simply to celebrate the joy of singing – with over 200 members from 13 choirs taking part in 13 workshops and community singing at six different village venues. It started at 9.15am this morning and culminated in a Gala Concert late this…

Christmas at St Peter’s Church

Following their involvement again in this year’s Ruddington Christmas Fayre on Saturday, St Peter’s Church is reminding us of the range of festive events and services still to come this month.
