Organisers of the weekly parkruns in Rushcliffe Country Park have taken delivery of a crucial piece of life-saving equipment – a defibrillator – which its own community stumped up the necessary funds for within a day! A social media appeal on March 30th raised the £816 required for the new, portable unit in less than half a day. Park Play Area Reopens for Easter

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park have confirmed that vital maintenance work at their large children’s play area has been completed on schedule. That means the popular Ruddington children’s facility is now back open for villagers and visitors alike, in time for Easter, having been shut for an overhaul and safety checks during March. This week, three of Britain’s biggest conservation charities – The National Trust, World Wildlife Fund and RSPB – have announced they’re joining forces to try to halt the destruction of UK nature using Sir David Attenborough’s ‘Save Our Wild Isles’ campaign as their inspiration. Runners from Ruddington and beyond are being invited to sign up for this year’s Rushcliffe 10k and Fun Run – which is back at Rushcliffe Country Park next month following a four year absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Hosted by Rushcliffe Athletics Club the event will replace the usual Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun on Sunday March 26th and include both a family-friendly 2k Fun Run starting at 10am as well as the Rushcliffe 10k run at 11am. Police Praise Ruddington Drivers

Motorists entering our village via one of its northern gateways are being praised for doing better at obeying the speed limit than when Nottinghamshire Police previously carried out checks there. When Rushcliffe South neighbourhood officers last brought their radar gun to Wilford Road in September 2022 they recorded three vehicles still doing in excess of 35mph along the main, built-up stretch. 24 More Green Belt Homes Approved

Over eighteen months after plans were revealed to add further houses to a current Ruddington development, permission to expand it onto additional land which was also previously part of our village Green Belt has been granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). Ruddington Shoplifter Jailed

A prolific shoplifter has been put behind bars and banned from a number of local stores as Nottinghamshire Police continue their promised crackdown on repeat offenders. Dale Tainton, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing from Ruddington Co-op on January 7th this year. The 45-year-old had a magnetic de-tagging device when neighbourhood police officers caught him. After pleading guilty to shoplifting and going equipped to steal, he was jailed for eight weeks when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on January 16th.
