Charity Champions at Ruddington Grange

Ruddington Grange Golf Club was established in our village in 1988. However, unless you’re a regular golfer, it’s possible you don’t know very much about it. The attractive 18-hole course and facilities, accessed from Wilford Road, are also available to non-members. As well as the extensive, tree-lined grounds being a haven for local wildlife, there’s a pro-shop onsite, food and drink are available at the club every day and its clubhouse offers various venues to cater for special events – from weddings and funerals to small family functions. Moreover, it is…

Puppetry at St Peter’s

Whilst the hot, dry summer of 2022 meant that many local farmers harvested their crops some time ago – earlier than ever this year – the annual ‘harvest celebration’ in Ruddington will be taking place this weekend. The ‘Altogether Service’ in St Peter’s Church is from 10.30am on Sunday 4th September and, in line with its theme of ‘God’s Generosity’, church members will be offering breakfast to anyone who would like it before the service (instead of their usual pastries and coffee). A highlight promises be the ‘puppet theatre’ presentation – featuring numerous…

Ruddington Bus Services Axed

Two circular bus routes through our village, which provide Ruddington’s only direct connection with Morrisons at Gamston, Wheatcroft Garden Centre, the Central Avenue Shops in West Bridgford and NTU’s Clifton campus, are being withdrawn permanently next month. CT4N’s Services 22 and 23 have been under threat before, because of Nottingham City Council (NCC) spending cuts three and a half years’ ago, when they were still free buses run by ‘Nottingham Community Transport’. On that occasion CT4N stepped in to operate them on a commercial basis with fares payable, and buses then continuing daytime…

Ruddington Bus Fares Rising this Weekend

Our main village bus operator has announced today that it’s putting up all fares from this Sunday in response to what it calls “significantly increased operating costs”. Nottingham City Transport (NCT), which runs our Navy 3 and Green 10 services, is blaming fuel and staffing costs being much higher than at the start of the year. It says diesel is costing them up to 50% more with the ‘BioGas’ price almost doubled. NCT explains that its drivers’ salaries have also increased by between 8.5% and 9.5% this year, in response to the national…
