It’s being reported there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response so far to plans by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) for its proposed community facilities behind The Green. Its decision to demolish the existing building and build a brand new community centre for our village followed an online survey the Council carried out late last year. In a move designed to “solve” at least ONE of Ruddington’s numerous parking issues, village residents on a quiet cul-de-sac off Easthorpe Street may finally see an end to motorists obstructing access to their properties. Ruddington Says “YES”!

Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. Ruddington is where the award-winning Debbie Bryan independent brand chose to open its second creative space in October 2020 (St. Mary’s Gate gallery in the City was launched in 2009) and staff recall the gallery’s “warm welcome by the village“. Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week. Everyone living in the parish should now have received either a postal ballot or a notification to vote in person at one of our two village Polling Stations on Thursday, 22nd July. Yet More Green Belt Homes?

A planning application has been received by Rushcliffe Borough Council to expand one of the current housing developments into further land which was previously part of Ruddington’s Green Belt. Construction of ‘Lace Fields’ by William Davis Homes on the former fields opposite Mere Way got underway last September, after being approved in the Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 2 for 170 new homes. New Ruddington Skate Park Opens

Skate boarders, scooter riders and BMXers are celebrating the opening of Ruddington’s new skate park – funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council and supported by Skate Nottingham, Canvas Spaces and VIA East Midlands. A meeting of Rushcliffe Borough Councillors this week is expected to agree that the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan should proceed to a referendum among villagers.* It’s after independent examiner David Kaiserman concluded that the Regulation 15 Submission Version met the ‘prescribed basic conditions’ and other statutory requirements – although this was subject to a total of 32 modifications he outlined in his March 2021 report.
