The organisers of Ruddington Village Market say this December’s Christmas event will be returning to High Street and St Peter’s Church – after being scaled down last year to take place only on The Green because of COVID-19 concerns. Good News for Ruddington Recyclers?

Village residents who need to visit Ruddington’s nearest household waste and recycling centre will no longer have to book beforehand to do so as of next month. Now that wider COVID-19 restrictions having been eased, Nottinghamshire County Council has announced the advance booking system at its West Bridgford facility on Rugby Road will be removed from Monday November 1st. Free School Holiday Meals to Continue

Ruddington’s schools are welcoming the announcement by Nottinghamshire County Council that it will continue to fund Free School Meals for the October half-term and over two weeks at Christmas. This means that village schoolchildren will be among more than 25,000 across the county who will receive 250,000 meals during the October break. One of our village’s main tourist attractions has announced it will begin to re-open some areas of its Mere Way site just after the Easter holidays. Prolific Shoplifter Jailed

A 31-year-old man, who originally received a deferred sentence for a shoplifting spree in Ruddington and Clifton last September, is now behind bars after committing further offences over Christmas. Following his original sentence, Aaron Kelly (pictured above), of no fixed address, was re-arrested on December 29th and re-sentenced the next day at Nottingham Crown Court after being found responsible for numerous, further shop thefts. Altogether he committed 41 crimes including stealing gift sets, food and makeup – as well as smashing goods inside a shop. Mr Kelly must now spend six months in jail.…

It’s not very frequently we get snow within the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ in our part of the East Midlands. However, villagers awoke to the first significant snowfall of the winter this morning – much to the delight of our younger residents.
