If you’ve lived in Ruddington for a little while, you may remember ‘Open Gardens’ events being organised in our village? In the summers of 2016 and 2018 these were staged in aid of Save the Children and Action for Children and proved a big hit with villagers and visitors alike. A big hearted twelve year-old from Ruddington has lost her long hair for charity today – so that she can help out other children in need. Louise Roome, who attended St Peter’s Junior School before starting at Rushcliffe School, received her haircut this lunchtime (Saturday 13th November) from Danielle at ‘Hare & Rabbit’ in the village. More Smashed Windows As Latest Crime Stats Revealed

A relatively quiet month for reported crime in Ruddington ended disappointingly when more windows were smashed in our village centre during Hallowe’en night ‘celebrations’. The damage (above) to Gino’s Ristorante on Sunday October 31st was reported the following day – with owner Guglielmo Frederico ‘Fred’ Formosa giving his CCTV footage of the incident to Police, who are now investigating. Ruddington’s Remembrance Services Return

After being cancelled due to the Coronavirus in 2020, ‘physical’ Remembrance commemorations are being held again in Ruddington this year. The first one is, of course, this Thursday, November 11th, for ‘Armistice Day’ – with a Service of Remembrance inside St Peter’s Church, starting at 10am, to which everyone is welcome. The congregation will be invited to head out to the War Memorial on Church Street at eleven o’clock for the two minute silence, led by members of the Ruddington & District Branch of the Royal British Legion. Two Car Crash Closes Kirk Lane

A police pursuit through Ruddington this morning ended up in a two car collision in our village centre. It’s understood officers spotted a vehicle which was being driven suspiciously through the Lenton area and began tailing it as it approached Ruddington. Police say it then sped away from them and collided with another vehicle as it was being driven at some speed along Kirk Lane. Ruddington residents are being reminded to show consideration for others and the environment this weekend – including moving to “lower noise” fireworks for Bonfire Night and other, forthcoming celebrations.
