Villagers went to the polls yesterday (4th May 2023), to elect Ruddington’s three representatives on Rushcliffe Borough Council, and the results are now in. With an impressive turnout of 43.1%, the three Labour Party candidates all secured many more votes than their Conservative & Green Party rivals, taking all three available seats. Funding Boost for Ruddington Athlete

A successful young long jumper and sprinter from our village is among this year’s elite athletes to be awarded Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) funding to support their efforts and achieve their goals through an ‘Elite Sports Grant’. 19-year-old Molly Palmer, who was born and raised in Ruddington, is one of 36 local athletes from across 17 different sports to benefit from the Council’s cash – which helps them with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment. Organisers of Ruddington’s popular monthly market on The Green are welcoming extra funding to support its growth and expansion. Through its ‘Strategic Growth Fund’, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has provided £14,800 in match funding for Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) to support the running of Ruddington Village Market – which now sees over 75 participating businesses each month and attracts thousands of visitors to our village. Appeal Against Planning Refusal on The Green

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal of permission to build a contemporary, new home at the heart of Ruddington’s conservation area [22/00485/FUL] is being appealed by the applicant. Welcome Boost to Coffee Club’s Coffers

A weekly, Ruddington coffee club which helps to reduce loneliness and social isolation amongst over 55s, has received support from a ‘Reach Rushcliffe’ grant, enabling the group to grow and flourish. Older villagers are invited to meet new people and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed and friendly setting at the ‘Wednesday Morning Coffee Club’ in St Peter’s Rooms – which also provides a warm space to vulnerable residents in a safe environment. No Council Tax Rise for Most Residents

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced today the majority of householders here in Ruddington and elsewhere should see no increase in its share of our Council Tax for the twelve months from this April. However, this freeze is still subject to a Full Council vote. Historic Ash Tree Felled by Developer

Ruddington residents overlooking the new Wilbur Chase development south of Musters Road are expressing their dismay that a large, mature tree next to the site has been chopped down today – despite their pleas to save it. Representatives from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) have been in Ruddington today to see at first hand the impressive progress made by a village initiative launched last Easter with the primary aim of reducing food waste in our community. Country Park Transformation in Full Swing with Help from Artex

Artex colleagues dusted off their wellies earlier this month to plant 400 hedges and trees donated by the Ruddington based business to Rushcliffe Country Park. The hedgerows were planted in the park’s new outdoor seating area which has been developed into a large, open and shaded area with views of the lake and easy access to the car park, visitor centre, toilets and café.
