Ruddington Defibrillator Update

In the past few years, as well as inside various village premises and on standby for public events, Ruddington has seen the installation of several, potentially life-saving yellow and green boxes which are available to our community 24 hours a day. There are now seven publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at locations around our village, as indicated below on the updated map originally drawn up Barbara Breakwell and James Norton. Plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to substantially enlarge an historic Ruddington public house have been withdrawn. As reported last month, the owners of The Frame Breakers at the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane had applied for planning permission to build a three storey side extension, with two storey side and rear extension, to the existing building, as shown above. This event is to showcase over 70 regional crafters and makers – from fine art to jewellery – in various venues in our village centre. Further Funding in Paradise

A group that runs a Ruddington allotment has secured more vital cash to support its gardening space which aids residents’ health and mental wellbeing. The Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Group co-ordinates a plot at the ‘Paradise Gardens’ allotments, off Wilford Road, and has received the grant from Rushcliffe Borough Council’s ‘Reach Rushcliffe Fund’. It builds on the group first getting funding in 2021 with the money helping to purchase essentials and making the site accessible. It’s provided an additional pathway for patients of social prescribing to access this space, leading to excellent attendance over the…

New Hedgehog Highways Opened!

Unlike for Ruddington’s road traffic at the moment, progress for one of our nocturnal creatures has just been made a little easier thanks to some generous, nature-loving volunteers from a nearby village. It’s after RUDDINGTON.info teamed up with Wild Things Keyworth this summer to ‘Help Our Hedgehogs’  by creating a hedgehog gap in a deserving Ruddington garden – which would be fitted with an especially carved and decorated ‘Ruddington Hedgehog Highway’ surround, too.
