Villagers living close to the ‘Wilbur Chase’ housing development in Ruddington say they’re very concerned that the property builder could soon be allowed to get away with another serious infringement of its planning conditions for the new estate. Avant Homes (Midlands) is currently constructing 175 new houses on our former Green Belt, south of Musters Road, on what used to be 15.89 acres of farmland. With concerns about our warming climate brought into sharp focus this week by record-breaking temperatures, eco-conscious Ruddingtonians may be pleased to hear that we can now apply for more FREE trees this summer. Two keen Ruddington allotment holders are celebrating being awarded both a trophy and year of ‘free’ gardening after scooping first prize in a friendly, annual contest. Sue Hallam and her partner Peter (pictured above) have won ‘The Best Allotment on Hareham Gardens’ for 2022 from the James Peacock Bread Charity. It not only owns all the allotments bordered by Asher Lane and Musters Road, but also regularly makes donations of money and produce to Ruddington residents in need. Special School Plans Approved

The wheels are now in motion for a Grade 2 listing building here in Ruddington to begin a new chapter in its history – after planning permission for a ‘special school’ there was granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). As RUDDINGTON.info reported in April, an application was submitted by Polaris Children’s Services to turn ‘Easthorpe House’ at 165, Loughborough Road into a school for pupils with special educational needs. Thousands Raised During Village Open Gardens

Organisers of this month’s ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ weekend have revealed the event was a great success – securing almost £4,500 for their two chosen charities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usually biennial was last held in 2018, but it returned even bigger and better on 2nd & 3rd July 2022. Artex to be Fossil-fuel Free On Site by End of 2022

The Artex Ltd site on Pasture Lane in Ruddington will be fossil fuel-free by the end of the year, thanks to the installation of a biomass heating system. The new system will heat their warehouses, offices and hot water to remove diesel and gas and fully decarbonise their site. Village residents who exercise their four legged friends in public places now need to be careful not to ‘fall foul’ of new regulations. Under amended rules which came into force today (Friday 8th July 2022) all dog owners/walkers in Rushcliffe must now carry a bag or have other means to pick up dog waste after their pet whenever out and about – otherwise face a possible £100 fine if unable to produce one on request. New Owners for Day Nursery

A popular Ruddington child care facility, which has been looking after villagers’ babies and pre-school children for the past 23 years, has been sold by its original owner.
