New Owners for Day Nursery

A popular Ruddington child care facility, which has been looking after villagers’ babies and pre-school children for the past 23 years, has been sold by its original owner.

Ruddington Day Nursery at ‘Grange House’ on Wilford Road was judged ‘Outstanding’ in all three of its Ofsted reports, with the most recent inspection being in 2019.  Its Green Belt countryside location – with natural outdoor spaces for kids to play and learn (the so-called ‘Forest School’) – has been a key part of its success.

It has now been acquired by Grandir UK (which already operates fifty other childcare centres under the ‘Kiddi Caru’ brand) along with the two others in West Bridgford and Radcliffe-on-Trent also run by Rushcliffe Day Nurseries. It seems very few people even knew the three Nottinghamshire nurseries were up for sale until after the deal was completed.

Former owner Anne Prescott founded her original Ruddington business in 1999 before starting the two others. She told daynurseries.co.uk: “My nursery teams have been like an extended family for 23 years, so leaving them is a wrench. However. I know that they will be better supported by a fresh team of passionate experts. I wish everyone the best of everything in the future.”

Andrew Coulter, of Coulter Consulting, which oversaw the sale, added: “Most staff are very long standing and loyal employees so understandably it has been an emotional time for Anne. But it was the right time to sell and I am confident that Grandir UK will offer excellent career progression opportunities for the staff.”

Only time will tell whether any significant changes will be made at Ruddington Day Nursery by its new owners.
