Apotheka To Close

It’s been announced that Ruddington’s trendiest drinking venue is to cease trading this weekend. Apotheka on Dutton’s Hill will shut its doors for the final time on Saturday (9th March) despite only opening after a major refurbishment of the premises just over a year ago. Business owner Jack Robson reveals: “Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control have made the bar untenable going forward and, as such, we have decided to vacate.”  But he’s told RUDDINGTON.info that it’s not closing due to a lack of trade: “We would like to thank every single…

Ruddington Village Market

Our Village Market began in February 2019 and now takes place on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a collaboration between The Ruddington Village Centre Partnership and The White Horse Inn. Between 9.00am and 12.30pm around two dozen stalls are set up in and around the popular pub on Church Street – offering a variety of produce, confectionary, quality crafts and provisions to take away. They are run by both existing village retailers and popular market traders from across the region. There are also refreshments, children’s activities and live performances…

Ruddington’s March Market

After around two thousand people flocked to the inaugural Ruddington Village Market at The White Horse Inn a month ago, organisers are keeping their fingers crossed that this Saturday’s follow-up will be just as popular. Last time, many visitors continued their “Ruddy Good Day Out” with a stroll down Church Street and High Street to visit our shops and cafés, too. This is exactly what the ‘market’ team from Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) had hoped would happen when they joined forces with Andy Hunt at the popular village pub to trial this initiative – aiming to…

‘Ruddington Rhythm’ Launches!

Our village’s regular, acoustic music night now has a new name. The monthly gathering at The Cottage Hotel will be known as ‘Ruddington Rhythm’ in the future – rather than ‘Ruddington Folk & Blues’. Organiser Ron McSweeney explains: “I have been considering a change of name for several months. I realised that some people were ‘put off’ attending as audience members by ‘Folk & Blues’ conveying a narrow area of music. We always had a wide range of styles and genres so the name now reflects the diverse music that is performed.” Singer…

Trader’s Thanks After Weekend Damage

A Ruddington businesswoman is thanking villagers who rallied around to help – after a window at her premises was smashed over the weekend. Lesley Wells, of The Old Bakehouse Tearoom on Church Street, rushed back to her workplace to survey the damage on her day off – after she was alerted to a possible “break-in” by a concerned resident who called into The Black Cat Café. Police had already arrived at the scene of the crime on Sunday morning (3rd February) and it was noted that a window had also been…

“Amazing” Support For Our New Village Market

Organisers of our new Ruddington Village Market say they’re “gobsmacked” by the number of both villagers and visitors from further afield who turned out for today’s inaugural event. They estimate over two thousand people braved the icy conditions this morning to see what the new monthly market at The White Horse Inn had to offer. A queue began to form even before the ribbon cutting at 9am for the official launch – with the first ten punters through the gate claiming their free cotton carrier bag especially designed for the…

Ruddington’s ‘High Street Heroes’!

On the eve of the inaugural Ruddington Village Market, it’s been announced that our village is to be the first in Rushcliffe to feature at the start of a special series of magazine articles – in a publication distributed to over 60,000 homes. The new Rushcliffe Reports feature is to be called ‘High Street Heroes’ and will start this April by focusing on the sterling efforts of Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) in attracting people to visit local businesses in and around our own High Street and helping them prosper. The group…

Final Preparations for Ruddington’s Village Market

With our brand new Ruddington Village Market now less than a fortnight away, promotional leaflets have begun dropping through local letterboxes this weekend to try to ensure that even our less internet-savvy residents get to hear about it! This exciting, new venture, hosted and co-organised by The White Horse Inn in conjunction with Stella Dickie and her Ruddington Village Centre Partnership “market” team, is intended to become a monthly fixture, so long as this first one on Saturday February 2nd is a success. It’s hoped that it will draw locals back into our…
