Wilford Road Closing for a Week

Drivers are being reminded that Wilford Road in Ruddington is to be shut for a whole week this August as highway contractors finish constructing the new junction into the Bloor Homes ‘Fairham Green’ development. The current temporary traffic lights will be swapped for a total road closure from Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th August inclusive whilst these roadworks are carried out, meaning (except in an emergency) no vehicular traffic will be allowed through. However, it’s understood the shared footway will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists throughout. Another casualty of…

Ruddington Says “YES”!

Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. There were 3 ‘spoilt’ ballot papers. This ringing endorsement means that the policies on the development and use of land in our village that the RNP contains…

Flawforth Lane Road Closure Cancelled

A three week closure of Flawforth Lane next month in connection with Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development has been called off. This had been requested from August 9th to August 27th to enable the completion of the junction into the new estate – also involving widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer. However, given this is such a busy route in and out of the village, Linden Homes has now decided this work can be carried out using multi-way temporary traffic lights, rather than needing a road closure…

Yet More Green Belt Homes?

A planning application has been received by Rushcliffe Borough Council to expand one of the current housing developments into further land which was previously part of Ruddington’s Green Belt. The highway reconstruction at the Mere Way Roundabout to create a suitable access for the new William Davis Homes development on former Green Belt farmland began in September 2020. It was originally scheduled for completion on March 26th 2021 but will…

Next Stop – a Ruddington Referendum

A meeting of Rushcliffe Borough Councillors this week is expected to agree that the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan should proceed to a referendum among villagers.* It’s after independent examiner David Kaiserman concluded that the Regulation 15 Submission Version met the ‘prescribed basic conditions’ and other statutory requirements – although this was subject to a total of 32 modifications he outlined in his March 2021 report. After a few further tweaks since, the final version is now ready to be discussed by the Council’s Cabinet – which is expected to rubber-stamp the…

It was originally scheduled for completion on March 26th 2021 but will not now be finished until at least Friday 11th June. The revised end date is said to be “…due to various delays on site”.
