Police Appeal Following Ruddington Drugs Haul

Rushcliffe Police are asking any villagers with further information to come forward following the arrest in Ruddington of two men with a large quantity of drugs. Officers were called to Asher Lane at around 11.15am last Wednesday, 4th October, following reports a car was being driven across farming land before becoming stuck. Two police patrol cars boxed the vehicle in as it attempted to leave the field. When the officers carried out a search they discovered a large amount of cannabis bagged up inside the vehicle. Another Residents’ Parking Scheme Proposed

Following further complaints from villagers about not being able to park near their homes, a consultation is underway about creating additional ‘residents only’ parking areas near Ruddington village centre. Via East Midlands, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council Highways, says it sent out letters and questionnaires to residents in 33 properties over the summer asking if they would like residents parking restrictions along part of Easthorpe Street. Tributes to Former Cyclist & Ruddington Golf Captain

This week family, friends and former colleagues will be gathering in Ruddington to pay their last respects to a well known and much loved village resident who passed away last month, aged 81. Barbara Dickman (née Shelton) was born in Gedling, in the middle of World War Two, on January 30th, 1942. After moving with her family to Lowdham, as a teenager Barbara became a keen cyclist, entering numerous cycle racing competitions as part of The Broad Oak Cycling Club. Solar Farm Approved

After years of planning, then two public consultation events in our village in March last year, followed by a detailed submission to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) twelve months’ later, proposals for a large ‘hybrid renewable energy project’ on agricultural land south west of Ruddington have now been approved. On Monday (2nd October 2023) RBC planners gave the go-ahead for Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) to construct ‘Fair Oaks Renewable Energy Park’ at Fields Farm off Asher Lane. Carriage Shed Takes Shape

Volunteers at Ruddington’s heritage railway report that work has got underway on schedule to finish building the long-planned covered storage area for its vintage carriages. This will complement the existing locomotive shed and engineering works at Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre on Mere Way.
