Council to Fund Half Term School Meals

Ruddington businesses, community groups and individuals are welcoming Nottinghamshire County Council’s announcement that it will provide the necessary funding for free school meals over this half term. As we reported on Saturday, many in our village, including St Peter’s Junior School Headteacher Michael Bradley, were critical of the Government after a Commons bid to extend free school meal vouchers to holidays during the COVID-19 pandemic was rejected by MPs last week. It’s been announced that Ruddington’s 2020 Christmas Market and Fayre has had to be called off due to continuing concerns about COVID-19. Heritage Centre Reopens – But Without Trains

Directors at Great Central Railway (Nottingham) have announced that no vintage steam or diesel trains will be running from Ruddington until Easter 2021 at the earliest. Passenger services last ran from our heritage site during the February half-term before all trains were cancelled and the centre closed to visitors due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. Boxing Day Crash in Ruddington

Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said that it involved just one vehicle in collision with a tree. Pupils, staff and parents at a Ruddington school bade a fond farewell this week to the man who has been their Head Teacher for the past twelve years.
