Heritage Centre Reopens – But Without Trains

Directors at Great Central Railway (Nottingham) have announced that no vintage steam or diesel trains will be running from Ruddington until Easter 2021 at the earliest. Passenger services last ran from our heritage site during the February half-term before all trains were cancelled and the centre closed to visitors due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. Trains Cancelled and Sky Lanterns & BBQs Banned

Whilst many are enjoying the extended heatwave and glorious sunshine, unfortunately the hot and dry weather has had a negative impact on one of Ruddington’s key tourist attractions. After safety concerns, Great Central Railway (Nottingham) has cancelled all its planned steam services this Sunday (8th July). Full Steam Ahead at GCRN

Ruddington’s heritage railway has confirmed it will continue with the rest of its planned autumn and winter events as scheduled. This follows the sudden cancellation of the second half of the much publicised “Superhero Weekend” at its Mere Way site yesterday (Sun 29th October). This Saturday 4th November sees the annual Great Central Railway Nottingham (GCRN) “Firework Spectacular” starting at 7.30pm – with gates open at 5.30pm for hot food, a funfair and miniature train rides.
