Local residents are certainly coming up with some imaginative ways of coping with the current cost of living crisis – and this latest one is good for our planet, too!  It has recycling at its heart and, as the name suggests, it won’t cost you a penny to use. You may already have spotted Ruddington’s ‘Little Free Library’ if you’ve headed along St Mary’s Crescent recently, without actually realising what this smart little wooden cupboard is all about, or what’s in it.  Of course, a closer inspection reveals the answer is books –…

New Rail ‘Reunification’ Bridge Arrives!

Reaching the stage when trains will once again be able to run all the way from Ruddington to Leicester has got another step closer this week – with the lowering into place of a replacement Great Central Railway (GCR) bridge over the A60. As RUDDINGTON.info reported last month, this brand new structure was needed to replace the old bridge (number 326) near the Brush factory, on the outskirts of Loughborough, which was in such poor condition that the line over it needed to be closed on safety grounds back in September…

‘Warm Welcome Spaces’ Agreed in Ruddington

Last month we reported how St Peter’s Church and Ruddington Parish Council were launching a village initiative to help those here who may struggle to both feed their families and heat their homes this winter. Whilst, thankfully, the Chancellor’s ‘Autumn Statement’ this week has left the current UK energy price caps in place throughout the coldest part of the year, already soaring gas and electricity costs are presenting a challenge for many in Ruddington. That’s why a public ‘Open Meeting’ was held in St Peter’s on October 18th 2022. Church member…

Property Developer’s Second Planning Breach

It’s been confirmed the house-builder currently constructing 175 new houses on almost sixteen acres of Ruddington’s former Green Belt south of Musters Road has breached its planning conditions for the second time in just over a year. Residents nearby have reacted with dismay at being told a total of 38 ‘Wilbur Chase’ properties are now occupied – breaching even the revised 35 property limit set by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). Joe and Pudsey’s Ruddington Visit

The organisers of Ruddington’s Junior Parkrun have released final details about the two very special visitors coming to our Country Park this weekend. As previously reported, Pudsey Bear and celebrity body-coach Joe Wicks will be taking part in Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun this Sunday, 13th November 2022, as part of BBC Children in Need‘s annual fundraising.
