Following a public consultation in our village in March 2022, Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) has now submitted a full planning application for its proposed ‘hybrid renewable energy project’ on agricultural land south west of Ruddington. Called ‘Fair Oaks Renewable Energy Park’ the power generation scheme would be located at Fields Farm off Asher Lane and pair 49.9MW of solar panels with 49.9MW of battery storage capacity. An educational centre in Ruddington, which helps to train vehicle mechanics of the future, is celebrating new Government funding to develop a brand-new facility specialising in the ‘decarbonisation’ of vehicles. Nottingham College’s EMTEC Centre on Mere Way is already home to its commercial and automotive employer services offer. It provides specialist automotive training to some 735 apprentices through partnerships with internationally renowned automotive brands including Hyundai, Genesis, Ssang Yong and more. Messy Mums Say ‘Farewell to Winter’!

Spring is definitely ‘in the air’ and women in Ruddington are being invited to gather again to celebrate its arrival. ‘Messy Mums’ – an evening of ‘chatting, crafting using upcycled materials, plus cake and wine’ – is back this Thursday at St Peter’s Church. Motorists who usually use Packman Drive to get in and out of Ruddington are being advised to use an alternative route for the next few days. From Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th February a new water connection by Severn Trent will mean 24-hour three-way traffic signals in use on Packman Drive at its junction with Ling Crescent. Rushcliffe 10k Returns

Runners from Ruddington and beyond are being invited to sign up for this year’s Rushcliffe 10k and Fun Run – which is back at Rushcliffe Country Park next month following a four year absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Hosted by Rushcliffe Athletics Club the event will replace the usual Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun on Sunday March 26th and include both a family-friendly 2k Fun Run starting at 10am as well as the Rushcliffe 10k run at 11am. Police Appeal Following Ruddington Pub Fight

Nottinghamshire Police have launched an appeal for information after a fight broke out between a group of women inside one of our village pubs. Officers were called to The Red Lion on Easthorpe Street last Friday night (10th February) at around 11.30pm when it was reported seven women were fighting and throwing glasses at each other. Three women, aged 35, 37 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of affray and have been bailed while investigations continue.
