Buckingham Palace has announced that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon (Thursday 8th September 2022). She was 96. The Queen was the UK’s longest-serving monarch, reigning for 70 years, with extensive celebrations to mark her Platinum Jubilee having taken place in Ruddington just three months’ ago.
