The impressive result of months of planning and knitting was revealed today – as Ruddington prepares to celebrate the long Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend in style. The finished, knitted banner was hoisted up outside The Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street this lunchtime (Friday 27th May), watched by onlookers – some of whom are actually featured within the stitching of the giant artwork created by textile artist Marie Jones! Eagle-eyed Ruddingtonians will already have spotted the appearance of some new, knitted creations around our village – courtesy of the now famous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’. Following a similar ‘Yarn Bomb’ at Christmas, and one or two changing pillar box toppers outside the Co-op before and after that, marking topical events, the ‘Ninjas’ have been very busy getting ready to celebrate the long Queen’s ‘Platinum Jubilee’ weekend next month. A provisional programme of events has been revealed for Ruddington’s celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen’s seventy years on the throne this summer. With extra UK public holidays already in place for the Platinum Jubilee, Ruddington Parish Council has organised a weekend of activities to mark our much loved Monarch’s record breaking reign. Further Cycle Racks for Ruddington

Parking provision for those who visit our village centre by bicycle is set to be improved further by the addition of three more pairs of cycle racks on High Street and Church Street. It follows Ruddington Parish Council‘s installation of two pairs of cycle racks on The Green in January as part of the Ruddington Village Centre Partnership ‘Traders’ Village Improvement Plan’. Next year Britain will be celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Right now Ruddingtonians are being asked how we’d like mark our longest ever serving monarch’s milestone here in the village. No Traffic Lights for our Village Centre

Ruddington residents and village Councillors are expressing dismay that one of the key planning conditions for the approval of 175 houses down Asher Lane has now been abandoned by Rushcliffe Borough Council without a clear alternative. At a meeting of its Planning Committee yesterday, Councillors voted 7 to 2 in favour of allowing Avant Homes to continue letting residents move into its ‘Wilbur Chase’ development – despite not all the stipulated highway improvements having yet been completed. Residents at the southern end of our village have sent an official complaint to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) after it became clear that a Ruddington property developer is allowing the first households to move into its new homes in violation of agreed planning conditions. Ruddington Says “YES”!

Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week. Everyone living in the parish should now have received either a postal ballot or a notification to vote in person at one of our two village Polling Stations on Thursday, 22nd July. Yet More Green Belt Homes?

A planning application has been received by Rushcliffe Borough Council to expand one of the current housing developments into further land which was previously part of Ruddington’s Green Belt. Construction of ‘Lace Fields’ by William Davis Homes on the former fields opposite Mere Way got underway last September, after being approved in the Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 2 for 170 new homes. Since then, tweaks during the detailed application stages have seen the property developer get permission to increase the density of its housing there to accommodate 185 new homes.…
