One of the best known characters in Ruddington’s retail community has left his post – after more than seven years as Operations Manager for a Nottinghamshire brewer. Nottingham Brewery has confirmed the departure of Andy Heath due to the imminent sale of The Frame Breakers pub on High Street – which the company has owned and run for the past six years. New proposals to resolve access issues for residents in a Ruddington cul-de-sac, whilst still enabling some parking there for those who need it, have been put out for consultation. As RUDDINGTON.info reported in August, after numerous complaints about inconsiderate parking and damage to vehicles, there was a previous consultation by Via East Midlands (on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council) which proposed prohibiting all parking on Cumberland Close between 9am and 5pm every day. One of Ruddington’s much-loved hospitality venues has reopened today under new management – and also with a more contemporary, new look. The Old Bakehouse Tearoom on Church Street had been closed since the start of July to allow for repairs and alterations to the interior by its new owner Eve Kirk. Residents and businesses in and around Cumberland Close will have to wait and see what’s decided by the authorities – now that their views on how to solve the local parking problem have been submitted. Today’s announcement by the Prime Minister about England’s ‘road out of lockdown’ brought a mixture of good and bad news for Ruddington’s hospitality businesses.
