No Beer from the Pub!

Today’s Government announcement that Nottinghamshire, like most of the East Midlands, will move into England’s highest level of current Coronavirus restrictions from New Year’s Eve means that Ruddington will almost be back in ‘Lockdown’ for a third time. Ruddington’s One Day ‘COVID’ Christmas

The new and more infectious mutation of the Coronavirus, which is now spreading alarmingly across Britain, has caused dozens of countries to suspend travel from the UK as well as halting freight across The English Channel – leading to worries about food shortages. Pub Doors Stay Closed for Christmas

In another blow for Ruddington’s hospitality venues, The Government has decided the whole of Nottinghamshire will retain Tier 3 ‘very high alert’ status throughout December. Despite the fact that data sources such as the Zoe COVID App are indicating Coronavirus numbers have been falling steadily in Rushcliffe, the strictest COVID-19 rules will remain in place here when the next rule change happens this weekend. Today’s news that Ruddington will fall back under Tier 3 restrictions when the current ‘lockdown’ ends has not come as a great surprise to residents and traders. Hospitality Takes Another Hit as Ruddington Goes ‘Tier 2’

Ruddington businesses are weighing up the impact of new restrictions which have been set out by the Government today to tackle the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in Nottinghamshire. A popular Ruddington pub has shut temporarily after a member of its staff tested positive for COVID-19 this morning (Sunday 11th October). A statement has been issued by The Victoria Tavern, on Wilford Road, which says: “We have, therefore, decided to close today in order to take an opportunity to deep clean all areas. The staff member has not been at work since Friday. Only one member of staff is affected and, at this point, there is nothing to indicate they picked up the virus here. COVID Confusion Leads to Ruddington Pub Fine

A misunderstanding of the latest COVID-19 rules has led to a public house in Ruddington receiving a £1,000 fixed penalty notice for breaching current guidelines. It’s after The White Horse Inn accepted a booking with a total of 34 people for a birthday celebration on September 26th – having initially refused an enquiry to host 72 at the event. Police say whoever is responsible for puncturing the car tyres of a Ruddington critical care nurse last month – leaving her both with a problem getting to work and a £320 bill to replace them – is still to be identified.
