Latest Village Figures Revealed

As Ruddington heads into the festive season, Rushcliffe Police have released their latest monthly statistics showing that reported crime here more than doubled in a month. Whilst only four crimes were listed during October, new November statistics show nine separate offences in our village which were reported to officers online or via 101. However, this is still significantly lower than in some previous months, and none of the offences was very serious. Businesses in Ruddington are weighing up the likely implications of new measures announced this weekend by the Prime Minister to try to stop a worrying COVID-19 variant spreading in Britain. Ruddington’s Remembrance Services Return

After being cancelled due to the Coronavirus in 2020, ‘physical’ Remembrance commemorations are being held again in Ruddington this year. The first one is, of course, this Thursday, November 11th, for ‘Armistice Day’ – with a Service of Remembrance inside St Peter’s Church, starting at 10am, to which everyone is welcome. The congregation will be invited to head out to the War Memorial on Church Street at eleven o’clock for the two minute silence, led by members of the Ruddington & District Branch of the Royal British Legion. The organisers of Ruddington Village Market say this December’s Christmas event will be returning to High Street and St Peter’s Church – after being scaled down last year to take place only on The Green because of COVID-19 concerns. Village transport operators have revealed a Hallowe’en scare for passengers – fare increases for most of their tickets from this Sunday, October 31st. Ruddington bus users will find the cost of their journeys increasing on Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Navy 3 and Green 10/ 10C/10X routes and on CT4N Services 22 & 23. Village residents who need to visit Ruddington’s nearest household waste and recycling centre will no longer have to book beforehand to do so as of next month. Now that wider COVID-19 restrictions having been eased, Nottinghamshire County Council has announced the advance booking system at its West Bridgford facility on Rugby Road will be removed from Monday November 1st. Ruddington’s schools are welcoming the announcement by Nottinghamshire County Council that it will continue to fund Free School Meals for the October half-term and over two weeks at Christmas. This means that village schoolchildren will be among more than 25,000 across the county who will receive 250,000 meals during the October break.
