Scouts’ Successful Festive Fundraiser

One of the many attractions at Ruddington’s three day Village Christmas Market this year was a pop-up stall on the Saturday which was run by 1st Ruddington Scouts. Keen to raise funds themselves for their many activities, in the months before the event many Beavers, Scouts and Cubs had spent time making glass decorations and other items to sell on the day – some of which are pictured below. ‘Shade Sails’ in the Park

Regular visitors to Rushcliffe Country Park here in Ruddington may already have noticed two rather ‘striking’ new additions between the children’s play area and outdoor gym/new skatepark. Officially called ‘Shade Sails’ (pictured top), they have been erected among the picnic benches to provide welcome shelter from the sun during the summer months, and protection from rain during the wet, winter months. Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has revealed volunteers from Ruddington are up for gongs in two different categories during next month’s ‘Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards’ alongside a singer and keyboard player who runs frequent health and wellbeing music sessions here and a young, Ruddington sportswoman. Painting Pictures in Our Park

The Visitor Centre at Rushcliffe Country Park was the venue for another recent gathering on Rushcliffe Social Prescribing team’s ‘Friendship Calendar’ – aimed at engaging with local people to tackle social isolation. Rushcliffe Borough Council‘s ‘Reach Rushcliffe’ initiative funded this free session in Ruddington last month, which was attended by over a dozen people. They learnt tips on how to paint using watercolours whilst meeting like-minded people and, hopefully, making some lasting friendships. Latest Co-op ‘Good Causes’ Announced

The beneficiaries of this year’s ‘Local Community Fund’ courtesy of shoppers at the Ruddington Co-op have just been revealed. This time only two organisations have been selected specifically, rather than the previous three. Both are based in Clifton but one also serves our own community, thanks to village volunteers from Ruddington. Solar Farm Approved

After years of planning, then two public consultation events in our village in March last year, followed by a detailed submission to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) twelve months’ later, proposals for a large ‘hybrid renewable energy project’ on agricultural land south west of Ruddington have now been approved. On Monday (2nd October 2023) RBC planners gave the go-ahead for Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) to construct ‘Fair Oaks Renewable Energy Park’ at Fields Farm off Asher Lane. The Ruddington branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is among those in the Borough set to benefit from extra cash this year thanks to the current Mayor of Rushcliffe.
