Messy Mums Say ‘Farewell to Winter’!
Spring is definitely ‘in the air’ and women in Ruddington are being invited to gather again to celebrate its arrival. ‘Messy Mums’ – an evening of ‘chatting, crafting using upcycled materials, plus cake and wine’ – is back this Thursday at St Peter’s Church. It’s a FREE event, usually held there three times a year for the mums in our village, although non-mums are also welcome. However, organisers say it is specifically for “ladies”. Liz Mack of St Peter’s Church explains: “Messy Mums was born out of Messy Church, a family…

Firstly, ‘ASDA On The Move’ which RUDDINGTON.info reported a year ago would be coming to Euro Garages’ expanded Ruddington Service Station premises along Loughborough Road, has finally arrived! It stocks up to 2,500 ASDA own brand, premium own-label ‘Extra Special’ and branded products – including bakery, fresh, chilled and ‘ambient’ groceries – along…
Read MoreAppeal Against Planning Refusal on The Green
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal of permission to build a contemporary, new home at the heart of Ruddington’s conservation area [22/00485/FUL] is being appealed by the applicant. In March 2022 Building Design (Nottm) Ltd submitted plans to demolish the current garage belonging to 6, The Green (‘The White House’) to make way for a modern two storey house (plus attic room) to be built ‘next door’ over the current garden – filling the “gap” seen in the photograph above. You can find further details >>HERE<<. Now it seems these controversial plans may yet see…

Motorists who usually use Packman Drive to get in and out of Ruddington are being advised to use an alternative route for the next few days. From Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th February a new water connection by Severn Trent will mean 24-hour three-way traffic signals in use on Packman Drive at its junction with Ling Crescent. A gas leak outside Hilltop Cottage on Clifton Lane means 24-hour two-way temporary traffic lights are also in use there – and will remain in place until repairs are completed. Due to difficulties encountered by Cadent Gas, the estimated end…

Nottinghamshire Police have launched an appeal for information after a fight broke out between a group of women inside one of our village pubs. Officers were called to The Red Lion on Easthorpe Street last Friday night (10th February) at around 11.30pm when it was reported seven women were fighting and throwing glasses at each other. Three women, aged 35, 37 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of affray and have been bailed while investigations continue. Police believe a number of people filmed the incident on mobile phones and would like…

St Valentine is the latest subject to receive the attention of talented creatives in and around our village for their current ‘Ruddington Yarn Bomb’. Whilst the pillar box topper on Church Street gets changed quite frequently, ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’ pulled out all the stops again in preparation for Valentine’s Day 2023 by knitting and crocheting romantically themed pieces to adorn other village centre locations, too. Some of these latest creations can be seen above and below, courtesy of Emma Scott, but there are even more to enjoy on their dedicated Facebook…
Read More‘Ruddington Rhythm’ Returns
Our village’s regular, acoustic music night has a new venue for 2023. From now on its sessions will take place at Ruddington Conservative Club – still on the 3rd Thursday of each month. After seven years at The Cottage Hotel, rising costs for the venue meant it could no longer offer its facilities free gratis for ‘Ruddington Rhythm’ this year – and organiser Ron McSweeney {pictured top left} did not wish to introduce an entrance charge. However, having missed only a month, he was welcomed by the Kempson Street venue to continue his gatherings there instead –…

It’s been a busy few months for The Mustard Seed Project, Uganda – the Ruddington based charity which was founded in 2017 by village schoolteachers Jayne Henson and Sally Squires after they visited rural Uganda to work with teachers on active learning activities. In our last update we reported how ‘Ruddy Bear’ was due to set off again on his travels last October – this time to Uganda with Sally {pictured top right} along with some of his bear friends who had been sponsored by villagers to give to Ugandan children – one…
