With all the excitement of the King’s Coronation, and its associated events here in Ruddington, plus ‘The Big Sing’, it might have escaped your attention that Ruddington’s famous annual beer and cider festival is ALSO happening this month? ‘Ruddfest 2023’ runs from Thursday 25th May until Sunday 28th May – just before the Spring Bank Holiday. Villagers went to the polls yesterday (4th May 2023), to elect Ruddington’s three representatives on Rushcliffe Borough Council, and the results are now in. With an impressive turnout of 43.1%, the three Labour Party candidates all secured many more votes than their Conservative & Green Party rivals, taking all three available seats. A ‘Yarn Bomb’ Fit For a King

It’s only a month since their last ‘Ruddington Yarn Bomb’ for Easter, but our local knitters, pom pom and tassle makers, crocheters and sewists from the ‘Handmade in Rudd’ Facebook group and beyond have been working flat out, before and since, to create their latest display in time for The King’s Coronation. Thanks to King Charles III, this year we’re getting no less than THREE Bank Holiday Mondays during May. For most villagers, the most significant of these is this coming weekend, 6th to 8th May 2023, when Ruddington will once again be pulling out all the stops to celebrate the Coronation of our new monarch. Ruddington’s Local Election Candidates

With just a fortnight left before we go to the polls on 4th May 2023, all the candidates standing for election here in Ruddington have now been revealed. Once again, villagers will not be asked to vote for any Ruddington Parish Councillors since, disappointingly, only 13 residents put themselves forward for the 16 available seats. These Councillors have already been ‘duly elected’ by the Returning Officer, without a contest. Ruddington’s New Parkrun Life-Saver

Organisers of the weekly parkruns in Rushcliffe Country Park have taken delivery of a crucial piece of life-saving equipment – a defibrillator – which its own community stumped up the necessary funds for within a day! A social media appeal on March 30th raised the £816 required for the new, portable unit in less than half a day. Tree-mendous Job, Ruddington!

TODAY (Friday 31st March 2023) was the extended deadline by which tree planting must be registered to be included in ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ (QGC) as a legacy to Her Majesty. Ruddington has seen numerous local companies, groups and individuals get involved with this national initiative. Ruddington’s Rescheduled ‘Big Sing’

It’s almost six months since we brought you the disappointing news that the ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ would not be returning for 2022 after all – having been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had previously taken place every two years.
