Ruddington Shoplifter Jailed

A prolific shoplifter has been put behind bars and banned from a number of local stores as Nottinghamshire Police continue their promised crackdown on repeat offenders. Dale Tainton, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing from Ruddington Co-op on January 7th this year. The 45-year-old had a magnetic de-tagging device when neighbourhood police officers caught him. After pleading guilty to shoplifting and going equipped to steal, he was jailed for eight weeks when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on January 16th. Further Navy 3 Timetable Changes

Just four months’ ago the axing of CT4N’s number 22 and 23 Ruddington services had the knock-on effect of Nottingham City Transport (NCT) re-routing some of its daytime Navy 3 buses away from our village. This was to maintain an hourly direct bus link from 8.30am to 3.30pm to the City Centre, Trent Bridge and Clifton Centre for the residents of Wilford Village and Silverdale (as service Navy 3A). New Year, Longer Market!

As Ruddington Village Market prepares to celebrate its fourth birthday, the team behind it has revealed visitors will have even more time to browse the many stalls in 2023. From February 4th onwards, our monthly market on The Green will open from 9.00am all the way through to 2.00pm – an hour and a half longer than previously. Village families who currently have children attending James Peacock Infant & Nursery School and St Peter’s Junior School are welcoming this week’s announcement that Ruddington’s historically preferred Secondary School will be made over a third larger. Organisers of a popular pre-Christmas concert in our village have revealed that it raised hundreds of pounds for humanitarian aid in war-torn Ukraine. ‘Handel’s Messiah’ is traditionally performed every two years by Ruddington & District Choral Society (RDCS) in St Peter’s Church. This time around, on Monday December 12th, its members chose the work of The British Red Cross in Ukraine as the good cause to support. Ruddington’s Fight Against Food Waste

Representatives from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) have been in Ruddington today to see at first hand the impressive progress made by a village initiative launched last Easter with the primary aim of reducing food waste in our community. Since then, project founders Carol Jaggers, Gwen Eyre and their volunteers have been opening the doors of ‘The Ruddington Pantry’ twice a week to hand out good quality, surplus food, free of charge from local food retailers (especially Ruddington Co-op) plus village gardeners and restaurants. New Ruddington Roundabouts on the Way!

National Highways has revealed that the final part of a major upgrade to the A52 around Nottingham has now moved a step closer – with work to enlarge and redesign the two main roundabouts taking traffic in and out of Ruddington scheduled to begin next summer. The agency has announced it’s appointed Griffiths Farrans Joint Venture (GFJV) as the main contractor to deliver the project.
