A weekend of parking prohibition along Mere Way, a morning of temporary traffic lights on High Street and a further complete closure of Dutton’s Hill are among the scheduled works liable to cause disruption over the coming days and weeks in and around Ruddington. Firstly, during all of the weekend Saturday and Sunday 14th and 15th May, and again on Saturday 21st May, many motorists who use Mere Way to park up whilst visiting Rushcliffe Country Park or Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre will not be able to do so. Most of the parking will…

More Village Centre Road Closures
Further complete closures of Ruddington’s main shopping street and Dutton’s Hill are among the roadworks liable to cause disruption over the next few months in and around our village. Firstly, there’s Easter Day work (Sunday 17th April) by Severn Trent for repair and maintenance on High Street, meaning the road will be closed throughout the day with diversions in operation. Nottingham City Transport says between 08:00-17:00 its Green 10/C service will divert: turning left onto Easthorpe St, right on the A60 and right onto Kirk Lane (10) or straight on…

Drivers accessing Ruddington along Clifton Road are facing unexpected hold-ups after temporary traffic lights appeared there this morning (Thursday 24th March). A gas leak was detected between the Old Station Drive turn and the Pasture Lane roundabout – resulting in Cadent Gas installing 24 hour two-way signals and digging up the westbound carriageway over the former railway bridge. As this is one of Ruddington’s busiest routes, motorists are being warned to expect delays – especially at peak times – while the escape is traced, excavated and repaired. We’re being warned…

After a number of roadworks around Ruddington at the start of the year, there’s another ‘lull’ in scheduled highway work around our village until this spring. Find details of temporary traffic lights due to emergency gas work on Clifton Road >>HERE<<. However, those of us who access Ruddington or the Business Park via the A60 are likely to be dismayed at the prospect of yet more disruptive roadworks starting near the Mere Way junction from the beginning of April and lasting right through the Easter holidays! It’s been confirmed that the former Sainsbury’s Convenience Store on Dutton’s Hill – most famously the historic home of Grice’s Electricals for over a century before that – will be reopening as a SPAR franchise after all. All seemed set for this new arrival back in March – with the branded signage installed in readiness. However, after a long pause, RUDDINGTON.info heard in May from AF Blakemore & Son Retail – which oversees 275 SPAR convenience stores across England and Wales – that: “…the site in Ruddington will no longer be joining SPAR therefore will not…

It seems that plans to bring a SPAR Convenience Store to Dutton’s Hill in Ruddington have been abandoned at the eleventh hour. Agents for the Dutch retailer announced previously that a new franchise would open at 12-14 Wilford Road on March 3rd 2021 – swiftly filling the gap left by our Sainsbury’s Local, which had closed just a month before. Although that launch deadline was missed, the SPAR exterior signage went up a couple of weeks later – even including the store’s opening times and facilities – indicating that all was still on track…

Read MoreHave Your Say on Planning Enforcement
Ruddington’s three Borough Councillors are encouraging us to have our say on a proposed ‘Code of Practice’ to give the authority more powers of enforcement over breaches in planning control. It’s been hard to turn a corner here recently without coming across some building work or other – whether taking place at the heart of our historic Conservation Area or on the outer fringes of the village. Four significant further housing development sites have been approved recently on former Green Belt land in Ruddington, with construction having started most recently along…
