Whilst our schools are out for the big holiday it’s hoped less traffic will mean fewer delays for Ruddington’s long-suffering motorists. However, there are some scheduled roadworks going on which will inevitably still cause inconvenience and longer journey times. First up, St John’s Road (pictured above) – a popular Ruddington shortcut – is closed to traffic from July 24th to 28th for National Grid work (as shown below), therefore motorists from Wilford Road will need to travel via the village centre to get into the estate or out onto Loughborough Road, and vice-versa.*…

Ruddington drivers who usually use Asher Lane to gain access to their homes – or get to the back entrance of Rushcliffe Country Park – are being advised of an unscheduled road closure which could last for a couple of days. As the darker nights return, drivers and pedestrians in Ruddington may be pleased to hear that long-awaited work to replace a missing lighting column in our village centre is scheduled for this weekend. Water Leak Disrupts High Street

Ruddington drivers, traders and shoppers are being warned they may face unexpected disruption in our village centre – following a burst water main today. ‘No Parking’ restrictions and four-way temporary traffic signals have been put in place at the junction of Church Street and Easthorpe Street whilst Severn Trent Water identifies and repairs the leak. Sewage Leak Closes James Peacock School

Pupils who attend Ruddington’s Infant and Nursery School have themselves at home unexpectedly today – after a flood of raw sewage affected the playground and the area around the main entrance. The incident at James Peacock School in Manor Park happened just as the school day was finishing yesterday (Monday December 6th) and was apparently caused by a sewage inspection cover springing a leak. Government Adds to Pothole Pot

It’s hoped Ruddington’s roads might benefit from a central Government boost to local maintenance funds to speed up much needed pothole repairs. Nottinghamshire County Council has announced it has been awarded £8.28million specifically for fixing road craters in Nottinghamshire as part of the Department for Transport’s £2.5billion ‘Pothole Fund’. This is in addition to an existing allocation of £22.57million for general highway maintenance across the county. Dismay at Dangerous Drivers

Villagers are up in arms about the large number of motorists flouting a current four-day road closure in Ruddington. Villagers have been left bemused after Severn Trent Water workmen turned up to fix a mains leak in Ruddington this afternoon, closed the road, repaired the pipe, but then left the hole and went home. Consequently, Clifton Road remains completely shut* to traffic between the junction with Camelot Street and Old Station Drive – with the usually busy route set to stay closed into tomorrow.
