You may be surprised to hear that there are now over 182,000 plug-in electric vehicles registered in the UK – and they’re becoming an increasingly common sight here in Ruddington, too, with dozens of drivers in our village having already made the switch from petrol or diesel. Towns and villages across Rushcliffe have just received further recycling and litter bins to help promote ‘Recycling On The Go’ – an initiative to reduce street litter and encourage residents to place items in the right place and the right bin. The dual stream recycling bins allow recyclable cans and plastic bottles to be placed in one side and general waste in the other. ‘Walking Bus’ Proposed for Ruddington

A fun, healthy, safe and environmentally friendly way for children to get to our village schools is being suggested for pupils in Ruddington. A “Walking Bus” is a form of student transport for school kids who, chaperoned by adults, walk to school along a set route, in much the same way a school bus might drive them there. Outlets in Ruddington are being encouraged to join a new scheme enabling the public to refill their reusable water bottles here free of charge – and so reduce single-use plastics. Village Bio-Gas Buses Enter Service

Ruddington’s very first bio-gas powered double decker buses will begin operating THIS SUNDAY, the 16th of July. A fleet of five dedicated buses are going into service on the Green 10 route to the City via Loughborough Road, Greythorne Drive and Trent Bridge to replace the less eco-friendly, diesel double deckers. At peak times on weekdays and on Sundays/Bank Holiday Mondays these buses also extend their run as the Green 10X & Green 10C upto Rushcliffe Country & Business Park.
