Ruddington Aims To Go ‘Plastic Free’

If you’re keen to do your bit for our planet, you may be interested to know that Ruddington has launched its very own ‘Plastic Free Communities’ initiative – in partnership with ‘Surfers Against Sewage’. The marine conservation charity is joining forces with a network of communities across the UK to tackle throw-away plastic. To kickstart the initiative here, you’re invited to take part  in a ‘community litter pick’ this Saturday (9th October) organised by Alex Preston, the co-owner of village eco-shop The Bottle Top. Refill Ruddington

Outlets in Ruddington are being encouraged to join a new scheme enabling the public to refill their reusable water bottles here free of charge – and so reduce single-use plastics.  Rushcliffe Borough Council says it’s looking for environmentally minded groups or individuals to join “Refill Rushcliffe” – for the benefit of both village residents and the many visitors who flock to Ruddington. The authority is exploring the award winning ‘City to Sea’ scheme – where businesses and community venues can act as a filling up point for thirsty passers-by signposted by stickers…
